A rare hepatic-venous anomaly with portal drainage of the pulmonary veins.
Major congenital defects of the hepatic veins are readily detectable at autopsy but they have been described rarely. In the case reported here an anomalous disposition of these veins brought venous blood from the left half of the liver into the left atrium and blood from the right half of the liver into the right atrium. We have traced only two other similar cases (Arnold, 1868; Epstein, 1886)....
متن کاملHepatic portal venous gas
Differentiating hepatic portal venous gas (HPVG) and pneumobilia on the CT scan can be accomplished by comparing the pattern of intrahepatic air spread. HPVG can be an indicator of significant intra-abdominal pathology and bowel ischaemia is the most common causative etiology for HPVG.

Cases of drainage of the pulmonary veins into the right side of the heart have been well summarized by Brody (1942). He reported 38 cases of complete, and 68 cases of partial, drainage of the pulmonary veins into the right atrium or its tributaries. The purpose of this paper is to record a further case, and to summarize the cases not reported by Brody and those which have been reported during t...
متن کاملHepatic Portal Venous Gas with Pneumatosis Intestinalis
Hepatic portal venous gas with pneumatosis intestinalis are radiological clues of intestinal ischemia. Prompt evaluation and a high index of clinical suspicion for the diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia are necessary given the high mortality of this condition. We present a case of mesenteric ischemia, radiological clues to diagnosis, and associated mechanisms.
